Music Foundational Models, ChatGPT vs Google, AI vs Bitcoin, and 2024 Thoughts
Tools and industry news from the world of artificial intelligence.
Morning y’all!
This is it! The last day of 2024. Are you ready for the next one? It’s hard to imagine that I started this newsletter earlier this year, the first post published — your typical Hello World — was actually the second since I forgot to write a light intro piece after the largest post that I had put together: Installing Stable Diffusion on macOS. I still use SDXL daily and I’m grateful for a simple yet powerful model that costs me nothing but time and some energy.
Since then I’ve published 255 posts, every single business day outside of Holidays. For me, the reason I started was to get as deep as I possibly could into a new and growing industry and there’s no better way to learn something new but by reading a ton of stuff from folks more intelligent than me and then also sharing those insights and learnings with others.
To be honest, it serves as a functional article “farm” for me and archive of interesting posts that I refer back to often. I should honestly create a small tool that indexes all of it into a localized LLM but maybe I’ll do that next year since it could save me a few minutes of searching.
At this point we haven’t quite yet crossed 100 subscribers and although that can easily get down on myself for not getting even close to my first year’s goal, I know from experience that good things can often take much more time than you initially expect. 3 of you have offered to support my work financially and I’m incredibly grateful for that, especially since it’s entirely out of the goodness of your heart as I don’t have an “premium” or “locked” content to offer.
It would be nice if more folks, like Geo, find this so useful (and spartan with zero advertisements) that consuming it, sharing it, and telling others about it is something worth your time, let alone subscribing to a paid level. Gosh, it really does make my heart feel so warm. Now, if I could get 1,000 more of you, I could do this full-time.
😉🥲🤣🫶🏻
What I can guarantee you is that I’ll keep posting content to help you stay up to date with the most important AI / ML news out there in a zero bullshit way. Just. Good. Content. Daily.
Have a wonderful end to your 2024 and I’ll see you in the next!
