AI news and tools and stuff to think about.
Morning y’all!
Sending this out a bit late today as I’ve had some other work to get to! All good and I’ll have a few days break to rest and recalibrate this weekend.
I hope you do too. Have a good one!

Apparently China is winning as the top producer of AI research — the top 5 producers are all from there! It’s a race and one that I hope others can truly compete in.
The first official music video from OpenAI’s Sora. What do you think? Good enough to pass muster? Or does it still suck.
In other news, OpenAI is going to be launching a search engine. Maybe. On May 9th we’ll know since that’s the expected date.
AI Bot claims that it’s the most powerful assistant builder ever, with no code. I don’t really believe the claim but it might be worth testing out.
Cubby bills itself as a collaborative research tool, a place to store and understand your own content via AI. Cool name.
Learn how to dance with AI feedback! Very neat tool, even if it doesn’t look polished quite yet. That can be fixed, just like your stance.
Some really good thoughts on pricing AI products, especially around new and innovative ways to price goods and services. Appreciate these since I’m thinking through pricing for a product right now.
Sam visited Stanford and here are his thoughts:
In this talk at Stanford University, Sam Altman, the co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, shares his personal journey and insights on the possibilities of artificial intelligence. Altman reflects on his decision to work on AI research instead of continuing his studies, expressing his belief in the potential impact of AI on various industries and human life.
He discusses the increasing costs of creating advanced AI models and the importance of responsible deployment, as well as the challenges of addressing the subtle dangers and ensuring equitable access to the technology. Altman also touches on the potential impact of AI on energy demand and renewable energy sources.
Throughout the talk, he emphasizes the importance of resilience, self-awareness, and having a clear product or business model when starting a company. Altman also acknowledges the concerns about the misuse of AI and the need for a tight feedback loop to get the balance right between safety and freedom.
The culture of OpenAI is driven by a deep sense of purpose and loyalty to the mission, which Altman believes is the strongest force for success.
Enjoy that if you’d like.
Try on new clothes via Replicate. That’s it. Two pictures is all you’ll need.
A cool app that detects AI-generated images and audio for your business.
Is the AI population ready to work?
AI that can predict how specific humans will look, act and feel could do the jobs of fashion models, focus group members and clinical trial participants.
Perhaps it’s time to just clone ourselves to do everything for us.
The title says it all.
FineTune LLaVA from your own notebook. Perhaps this is a good activity to trythis weekend, if you have energy!
