LLMs Will Not Kill Us and a Chat Between Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg
A few tidbits around the AI industry. Enjoy!
Morning y’all!
Note: I forgot to publish this yesterday! So you’ll be getting two today. Sorry!
I hope you’re getting as much rest as you are getting things done! I’m fixing a flat tire this morning so I’m working from the lobby of a garage — tethering is the gift that keeps on giving!
Hope you have a wonderful day and please remember to stay positive! Life has way too many things that can pull us down and, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that I can just say “no” to so many of those things.
Wunderbar!
The US NTIA is telling us not to worry about LLMs killing us. Ok.
A pretty big convo between industry titans Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg. Some very interesting comments on economic models and open source.
So how’s it like working in China with the rise of AI? Here’s a look. The top-line notes are fascinating, like this:
Despite AI’s role in enhancing efficiency in the workplace, it has not led to improved job quality for Chinese workers. AI solutions tend to be designed for maximizing labour extraction, both paid and unpaid, often leading to worse working conditions and job insecurity.
I don’t think this is just China alone.
Apparently this is the prompt in Apple’s new Intelligence Beta. Reddit’s community is so amazing sometimes:
I was digging into the system files for the update and I found a bunch of json files containing what appears to be prompts given to the AI in the background. I found it interesting and thought I'd share.
You can find them here:
/System/Library/AssetsV2/com_apple_MobileAsset_UAF_FM_GenerativeModels
There'll be a bunch of folders, some of them will have
metadata.json
files like this.
A fun overview of how you can transform datasets into interactive dashboards with this new AI tool using Generative UI. Nice.
This playlist is getting a lot of attention; maybe it’s something you’d like to review.
TikTok has launched “Jimeng AI” for Chinese users that does text-to-video directly in the app to compete, obstesibly, with Sora.
Colorado released an AI Roadmap for schools, providing guidelines on integrating AI into education policy and curricula.
That’s it! Have a good one!
