NYC's Chatbot Lies, Copilot on Your Own Machine, and Edit Images on DALLE 3
News and a few tools that you can use.
Morning y’all!
Can you even believe we’re at the start of the second quarter of 2024? Where did it all go? Time seems to be moving more quickly the older I get and it’s starting to freak me out! This is probably doubly-so because we’re all spending a lot of time at the very frontier of technology. C’est la vie.
Another day and another round of interesting reads. Enjoy!

Copilot is going to be able to run locally on your own box! This is good news since it’ll give you an opportunity to spend more time (and less money) on trying AI right on your own computer. There will be some hardware requirements, of course, but expect these to come down as time progresses.
This is behind a paywall but apparently Microsoft and OpenAI are going to build a supercomputer which will cost as much as $100b. I think the growing trend of software companies moving to hardware will continue as folks realize the best revenue is realized when you own the entire technical stack. They are going to call it Stargate in a 5-phase plan. Fun.
I lol’d a bit when I read that NYC’s AI chatbot suggests to businesses that they should break the law, including letting boss’s take tips from their wage earners. Whoops.
Apple announced ReALM which is a new AI system that can understand on-screen tasks, conversational context, and even background processes on your own device. Apparently it also outperforms GPT-4, despite fewer parameters. Apple is clearly not giving up on Siri and although I can never get her to work properly I can imagine a point in the future where this is going to actually work.
OpenAI now allows you to edit images generated by DALLE 3 offering users a way to customize their images without heading to another app. You can select specific areas of an image and ask for changes as well as edit and modify objects within the image itself. Not bad, not bad.
Creatie AI turns your ideas into designs. That’s it. It’s got a decent editor and layout but there’s a lot inside, so, take your time.
Fynk helps you create and automate contracts to save time and money. I’ve been spending a bunch of time reviewing contracts for vendors, contractors, and even full-time employees so I’ve been personally looking at apps that might speed this process up a bit. This podcast about hiring with Julie Zhuo, a Facebook designer, was fun to listen to while I was writing this newsletter, btw.
Is the internet too small? Apparently that’s the argument here and that we need more information for “data guzzling” AI tools to get more context for their outcomes.
InnerAI is a tool to help you organize your thoughts with collaboration, content creation, and connection to AI models. Pretty homepage, that’s for sure.
And that’s it friends! Have a great second day of April!
